Disturbing Trends

One would think that after the successes of Best Friends, BAD RAP, and others at assessing and rehabilitating the Michael Vick dogs, more authorities would be willing to give dogs seized in dogfighting raids (some of whom may have never been fought) a fair chance at assessment and possible rehabilitation. Sadly, a recent Houston raid led to the death of all 187 dogs, victims of crimes perpetrated against them by humans. Now there's been another major raid resulting in the seizure of 127 dogs, all of whom will be killed if the people arrested in connection with the raid are convicted. These dogs, the victims, are simply being killed without even a temperament assessment. How incredibly sad - for them and for us. Dogs shouldn't have to have a celebrity connection to deserve a chance to live.
