Starbucks to cut 300 stores, lay off 6,700

But the real news in this story is that the CEO requested that his pay be cut to the absolute minimum required to maintain benefits for himself and his family. Finally, a company run by an adult.

Actually, he asked the board for a token of $1 a year, they came back with $10,000. And the $1 thing isn't new, although rare...in the past, Steve Jobs and Lee Iacocca have both done the same thing. Wish more would.

This thing with Starbucks actually makes me sad. It is a really wonderful company to work for and they really care about the environment, their carbon footprint, all that. Howard Schultz is a VERY smart business man and I applaud his decision.
